Dome Karukoski is one of the most successful film directors in Finnish history. He is one of the two Finnish film director to have worked in the Hollywood studio system, the most competitive platform in the film industry.
His films have been distributed on all continents, the most internationally acclaimed being Tolkien, the biography of J.R.R. Tolkien, the Lord of the Rings. His other films include The Heart of a Lion, The Grump, Lapland Odyssey, Beauty and the Bastard, and Tom of Finland.
